WATER TANKS COME IN ALL SHAPES AND SIZES

Do you live in a terrace, semi or other city property with almost no yard? You probably think a water tank is a no-go zone because it would be too large and unsightly for your property.

Think again.

Water tanks come in all shapes and sizes. As well as the large traditional tanks familiar on country properties, there are all sorts of flexible systems to suit a newer city market.

There are modular rainwater storage systems consisting of slim, connectable polyethylene tanks that fit into narrow spaces such as under eaves, or they can be installed freestanding as fences or dividers. There are underfloor storm or greywater management systems that consist of sacs (much like sealed, flexible bladders) that fit into small or irregular spaces such as under the house or under the deck.

Most people report that rainwater - without chlorine and other chemicals - is softer and has a beneficial effect on the quality of their skin and hair, as well as reducing their use of diminishing water supplies.

As the demand grows there are new products coming on the market to meet it. So look into the possibility of a financial rebate (offered by some local councils and water providers) while it is still on offer. Your local council may also supply information brochures that will help you make an informed choice.
